Principal photography on Hardcore — “The First Ever Action POV Feature Film” — has now been completed and the film is up on Indiegogo for post production funding. The film was shot in 3D using two GoPro Hero 3 cameras in the custom-made rig you see below.
Hardcore is a modern, action Sci-Fi story about Henry, a newly resurrected cyborg who must save his wife/creator Estelle (Haley Bennet) from the clutches of a psychotic tyrant with telekinetic powers, Akan (Danila Kozlovsky), and his army of mercenaries. Fighting alongside Henry is Jimmy (Sharlto Copley), who is Henry’s only hope to make it through the day. Hardcore takes place over the course of one day, in Moscow, Russia.
Of course, the POV technique is nothing new, but the concept of shooting a feature film from the First Person Shooter perspective is a compelling cinematic question. Here’s a trailer…
Most of us are already well versed in watching POV Action Sports videos via helmet mounts, so the perspective is nothing new, but as you can see from the second-half of the video above, the visceral perspective is heart-pounding and will instantly appeal to every Call Of Duty fan on the planet.
Sergey Voogie Valyev, the director of Hardcore, is now offering the Adventure Mask head rig you see above for pre-sale.
