Roland has debuted the GO:Mixer, a new portable device that allows users to record quality audio from five different sources with their smartphone. Connect the GO:MIXER to a smartphone and capture stereo audio as you record video from multiple inputs simultaneously. The GO:Mixer aims to solve the pain point of trying to capture multiple audio sources with just the internal mic or a signal external.
For smartphone filmmakers, this compact device could be great solution for connecting a main mic to your smartphone cage, while also capturing wireless sources on your actors. Roland claims you can connect a mic, musical instruments, and media players and mix them all together live while you shoot. While the GO:MIXER can send a stereo audio signal reliably to an iPhone, some Android smartphones may experience the signal being automatically converted to mono.
Roland GO:Mixer Features:
» Compact audio mixer for smartphones
» Multiple inputs: connect a mic, musical instruments, and media players
» Plug and play – ready to go right out of the box
» Connection cables for iOS and Android devices included
» Powered from the smartphone connection; no batteries or AC adapter required
With the ever-expanding video quality of the latest smartphones, capturing quality video content has never been easier. However, recording a high-quality audio soundtrack along with a video has typically required complicated external gear and time-consuming editing in post-production. GO:MIXER’s plug-and-play convenience enables you to capture solid audio in your videos in real time. GO:MIXER allows you to combine five sources at once via inputs for a vocal mic, guitar, stereo keyboard, and two stereo line-level devices (such as music players, drum machines, etc.). Just set up your best live mix while monitoring the sound.
While Roland is focusing on music applications, the GO:MIXER can certainly assist you in creating better video productions. With the ability to mix narration, additional mics, and other sources live with audio, GO:MIXER lets you produce great-sounding videos quickly and efficiently.
Roland GO:MIXER is expected to cost $99.99 when it ships in March.
