Staaker GoPro 3-Gimbal Follow You Drone

Staaker made a big splash in 2016 when it announced its Follow Me Drone. However, upon actual delivery of the Staaker two years later, and at a substantially lower price, it is already outdated and out-featured.

The Follow Me Drone, or what is being touted as the ultimate selfie-stick, has a certain futuristic appeal. However, the reality of following a moving person, whether they’re on skis, a surfboard, mountain bike, or whatever is an entirely different matter. Aside from surfing, just avoiding trees, electrical wires, chairlifts and all sorts of other obstacles, and do it smoothly, is enough to humble the many manufacturers. Wired Magazine, who surprisingly has a very weak gadget testing and editorial department, decided to plug the Staaker as the most accurate Follow Me Drone in the marketplace. We’re thinking that chest-pounding was more Sponsored Post than reality as videos from the Staaker appeared on YouTube showcasing jerky, poorly framed footage.

The other big problem, thanks to DJI’s Mavic series, is that at $999 with no built-in camera or obstacle avoidance system, the Staaker is quite overpriced. And to think that when it was first announced, it was slated to retail for $1,795.
