Ricoh has announced the WG-M2, a 4K action camera market, which can records 30 fps UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) video in the 100 Mbps H.264 codec. The WG-M2 chassis is is rated for drops from as high as 6.5 feet and can be submerged down to 65 feet with no additional protection. The lens features a 204° field-of-view in the Wide video setting, as well as a 151° field-of-view in the Narrow setting. As a differentiator from market-leader, GoPro, the camera features electronic image stabilization to help minimize shake.

Besides 4K, the WG-M2 can shoot 1080p at 30 and 60 fps, and 720 at up to 120 fps—the latter ideal for creating slow-motion effects in post. Apart from video, it features a JPEG photo mode offering up to 8MP resolutions stills. Photo bursts of up to 10 frames at 8 fps ensure you will catch the action at just the right moment. Wi-Fi is built-in to work with Ricoh’s ImageSync app.
Ricoh provides a range of optional mounting accessories, including an Adhesive Mount, a Suction Cup Mount, and a Handlebar Mount. For added protection, there is an optional Camera Skin, as well as an optional Camera Case. A 1.5″ LCD display on the nominal top of the camera makes it easy to access the menu, as well as frame your shots and monitor playback. For remote operation using the , there is a Wi-Fi connection.
Ricoh’s WG-M2 is available now for pre-order for $299. It features two color options, orange and silver.
