VideoBlocks, a stock video company, has launched of a new marketplace for content contributed by selected users. VideoBlocks currently has a library of over 115,000 video clips, backgrounds, and effects that it has licensed or developed themselves. New contributions is currently invite-only and not completely open to users, which could be a missed opportunity, but they probably don’t have the infrastructure at this time to open up their doors all the way, such as Creative Market.
CEO and found Joel Holland claims to offer the same footage that you’d find on Shutterstock, but at a 40 percent discount with 100% of the money going to the developers. So how does VideoBlocks intend to make money? A substantial subscription model.
The Future: VideoBlocks has presented a dynamic new model for stock video footage, but are they leaving money on the table by just going with a subscription model?
VideoBlocks costs $79 a month or $99 the entire year.
