RØDE Microphones Upgrades VideoMic Pro+

RØDE Microphones has announced an upgrade to their VideoMic Pro. The new and improved VideoMic Pro+ features a number of new power-related features, including an Automatic Power Function that automatically turns the microphone off when unplugged from the camera, as well as an all-new LB-1 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. In addition, the VideoMic+ can utilize AA batteries or power via Micro USB. The mic also has a new built-in battery door, which users have complained about since the video microphone’s inception.

The VideoMic Pro+ also now offers Digital Switching, which includes a two-stage high pass filter to reduce low frequencies such as rumble from traffic or air conditioning; three-stage gain control, with +20 dB function, aiming to improve audio quality on DSLR or mirrorless cameras; a high-frequency boost to boost high frequencies in an effort to improve detail and clarity; and a safety channel to help ensure the signal does not clip when unexpected spikes occur. As with the prior model, the VideoMic Pro+ comes with a Rycote Lyre suspension system. The VideoMic Pro+ ships with the LB-1 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery, 3.5 mm TRS cable and Micro USB cable.
